Greek Play Production Project
The Greek Play Production Project is a project where my Humanities class selected one of the plays written for class and produced it for an audience to watch. The class play called South Side Story won. The play was about an ex-con who was trying to make a life for himself after he got out of prison. Unfortunately, no one gave him a chance. For this project there were different groups of production. They included:
Even though I was in the Lights and Sound Group, I also helped out other groups, including the Set Design Group. When I worked with them I helped build and paint the sets. I am most proud of how I helped other groups and contributed so much! If I were to change something I would probably try to help even more groups!
The class play that we created called South Side Story was about an ex-con who was recently released from jail and wanted to make a life for himself. Because of him being an ex-con, he was unable to do so. The show's theme was about acceptance and forgiveness. It also was trying to move across the message that a book should not be judged by it's cover.
Throughout the project I feel like we had many different ways to learn. What I mean is that throughout all of the different steps of creating our play we had an opportunity to learn. A few of the biggest thing I learned during this project how to edit a show well and how to work with others and be able to collaborate well with them. During the beginning when we started to write and finalize the play, we really had to throw out ideas and be able to agree on one to continue writing about. In the end (after many, many drafts) the story turned out to be great! After the writing process we had to move on to the actual production of the play, where we had to work in small or lage groups to get everything done, which required a big amount of teamwork!
- Costume Design - in charge of creating all of the costumes.
- Set Design - in charge of creating the set.
- Backdrop Group - created the large background for our play.
- Documentarian Group - responsible for documenting all of the work done.
- Actors - who auditioned for their roles.
- Directors - responsible for making sure the actors knew their lines, helped stage the production and helped other groups fulfill on their tasks.
- Award Committee - put together an awards ceremony after the play.
- Poster Design Group - responsible for creating posters to advertise the play and the playbill, posted below.
- Lights and Sound Group - I was director for this group which meant I was in charge. I collected all of the sounds effects for the play and supervised my co-workers.
